La Science-fiction africaine sera un des thèmes majeurs de la convention européenne. La revue Galaxies lui a consacré un numéro, et parmi les auteurs publiés dans cette revue, certains seront présents. Mais au-delà de la revue, nous nous tournerons aussi, avec nos invités sur l'ensemble de ce mouvement littéraire, quel qu'en soit la langue...

African Science Fiction will be one of the major themes of the European Convention. The magazine Galaxies has dedicated an issue, and some of the authors published in this magazine, some will be present. But beyond the review, we will also turn, with our guests, on the whole of this literary movement, whatever the language ...

SOFIA SAMATAR

Sofia Samatar est née d’un père Somali et d’une mère Suisse. Elle a vécu dans divers endroits autour du monde. En 1997, elle a obtenu une maîtrise en langues et littératures africaines de l’Université du Wisconsin à Madison. Elle a ensuite obtenu un doctorat en soutenant une thèse sur le romancier soudanais Tayeb Salih.Mariée à l’écrivain américain Keith Miller. Elle parle plusieurs langues, dont l’arabe, l’anglais et le swahili, et elle a acquis quelques notions de zandé en enseignant au Soudan. 

Sofia Samatar was born to a Somali father and a Swiss mother. She has lived in various places around the world. In 1997, she obtained a Masters in African Languages and Literatures from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She then earned a Ph.D. thesis on the Sudanese novelist Tayeb Salih.Mariée to the American writer Keith Miller. She speaks several languages, including Arabic, English and Swahili, and she has acquired a few notions of zandé while teaching in Sudan.


MOUSSA OULD EBNOU

Moussa Ould Ebnou est professeur à l’Université de Nouakchott, en Mauritanie. Il a publié en 1990 son premier roman en français, L’Amour Impossible, annoncé à l’époque par l’éditeur (L’Harmattan, Paris) comme un roman de science-fiction africain. Depuis, il a écrit deux autres romans en français et trois en arabe (publiés par Al Adab à Beyrouth). Moussa Ould Ebnou est président de l’Association Mauritanienne des Écrivains d’Expression Française.

Moussa Ould Ebnou is a professor at the University of Nouakchott, Mauritania. In 1990, he published his first novel in French, L'Amour Impossible, which was published at the time by the publisher (L'Harmattan, Paris) as an African science fiction novel. Since then, he has written two other novels in French and three in Arabic (published by Al Adab in Beirut). Moussa Ould Ebnou is president of the Mauritanian Association of Writers of French Expression.


GEOFF RYMAN

Geoffrey Charles Ryman is a Canadian writer, Senior Lecturer at the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures, University of Manchester. He has written several novels of science fiction and literary fiction, as well as news and an interactive web novel. His works have won numerous awards. In 2011, he won the Nebula award for the new long. He received an International Academic grant from the Leverhulme Fund to pursue his research on the rise of science fiction and fantasy in Africa.

Il a écrit plusieurs romans de science-fiction et de fiction littéraire, ainsi que des nouvelles et un roman web interactif. Ses œuvres ont remporté de nombreuses récompenses. En 2011, il a remporté le prix Nebula de la nouvelle longue.  OULIMATA GUEYE

Oulimata Gueye est journaliste et commissaire d’exposition indépendante. 
Elle explore, à travers les évenements qu’elle organise et les articles qu’elle publie, l’impact des technologies numériques sur les cultures populaires urbaines en Afrique. Oulimata anime la plateforme xamxam.org et a co-fondé le collectif « Startup Africa Paris ». (A confirmer)

 KETTY STEWARD

Ketty Steward is one of the key elements of French science fiction. Author, critic, moderator, participant in the movement, she has directed, as Associate Editor-in-Chief, an excellent issue of the magazine Galaxies, devoted to African Science Fiction. She also signed a number of short stories and poems, and a very personal book: Noir sur Blanc. (To be confirmed)

Ketty Steward est un des éléments clés de la science-fiction française. Auteure, critique, animatrice, participante au mouvement, elle a dirigé, en qualité de Rédactrice en chef déléguée, un excellent numéro de la revue Galaxies, consacré à la Science-fiction africaine. Elle a également signé nombre de nouvelles et de poèmes, et un ouvrage très personnel : Noir sur Blanc. (A confirmer)

FAYCEL LAHMEUR

Faycel Lahmeur est enseignant de lettres modernes à l’université de Jijel (Algérie). Auteur et traducteur de science-fiction, il a publié deux romans (La Planète parfaite et Amine Alalawani) et un recueil de nouvelles (Chroniques d’outre-monde), ainsi que de nombreuses publications dans les périodiques algériens. Il a traduit en arabe Huxley, Dick, Borges, etc. Entre 1996 et 1998, il a dirigé l’hebdomadaire Le Monde culturel, dans lequel il consacrait trois pages à la SF. Son troisième roman de SF, Le Messie, est en cours de publication.

He translated into Arabic Huxley, Dick, Borges, etc. Between 1996 and 1998, he directed the weekly Le Monde culturelle, in which he devoted three pages to SF. His third novel SF, The Messiah, is being published.

KAWTHAR AYED


Kawthar AYED est Maître-assistante à l’Université de Tunis, directrice de l’Institut Supérieur des Etudes Appliquées en Humanités de Zaghouan. Elle a soutenu le 11 juin 2008, à l’Université d’Aix-Marseille I sa thèse : « La littérature d’anticipation dystopique et l’expression de la crise dans le monde Occidental et Arabe », sous la direction des Professeurs Roger Bozzetto et Guy Larroux. Elle est également traductrice.

Kawthar AYED is Assistant Professor at the University of Tunis, Director of the Higher Institute of Applied Studies in Humanities of Zaghouan. On June 11, 2008, she supported her thesis at the University of Aix-Marseille I: "Dystopian Anticipation Literature and the Expression of the Crisis in the Western and Arab World", under the direction of Professors Roger Bozzetto and Guy Larroux. She is also a translator.
